Lois M. Patterson, 92, of Rueter departed her earthly life with family at her side, Saturday, July 1, 2017 at her residence. The visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 5 in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home. The funeral will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 6 in the funeral home with Pastors Jeff Anderson and David Holvick officiating. Burial will be in the Wyman Cemetery, Rueter.

Lois Marie Patterson was born Friday, March 27, 1925 in Ocie, MO in Ozark County to Mintie (Harless) Cutbirth Hanks and Austin Eugene Hanks who was related to Abraham Lincoln through his mother, Nancy Hanks. As a teenager, Lois went with her mother to Pixley, CA where she graduated from the eighth grade in 1942. She was married to Avriel Patterson on November 14, 1947 in Harrison, AR. They celebrated their sixty-fifth anniversary together before his death in December 2012.

Lois was saved at the Salem Church in Ocie when she was seventeen and was baptized in Big Creek near Protem.

Growing up through the depression, Lois worked hard to make a living. She ran a dairy for years and was a farmer and homemaker. She always had a big garden and canned a lot. She loved crocheting, embroidering, quilting and sewing. She was a wonderful cook. She collected wild greens for salads and wild fruits like blackberries and gooseberries for making pies and cobblers. She is best remembered for her love of playing checkers with her children, grandchildren and friends. She was a very good player.

She is survived by one son, Bob Patterson and wife, Deanna of Bruner, MO; two daughters, Joy Patterson of Rueter, Karen Anderson and husband, Jeff of Rueter; five grandchildren, Jason, Josh, Dru, Randy Joe and Bobbi and six great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Avriel; two brothers, Roy and Martin Cutbirth; three sisters, Alta Walker, Cecil Cole, Pansy Putnam and a great-grandchild, Brindle Sonnenfelt.
